1940 Sven Fristedt is born in Stockholm

1957 Attends Konstfack, the University of Arts, Craft & Design, studies decorative painting for one semester

1958–1960 Attends Beckmans College of Design, studies fashion

1958 Internship with Borås Wäfveri AB. His first industrially produced fabric, Plexus, is printed by Ljungbergs Textiltryck AB in Floda.

1960-1961 Designs Exotica and Fioro for the STOBO company

1961 Scholarship from The Swedish Society of Crafts and Design, travels to Italy

1960–1963 Employed with Mab&Mya in Malmö

1962 His first collection Flora and Pomona for Mab&Mya on show at the NK department store

1962–1964 Designs patterns for Katja of Sweden’s fashion collections

1965 Employed at Borås Wäfveri AB

1966 His first collection for Borås Wäfveri AB / Borås Cotton Studio Nu blommar de’ on show at Form Design Center in Stockholm

1966 Rents a studio in Andrarum, Österlen, for the summer

1967 Designs for IKEA are printed by Borås Wäfveri AB

1968 The first special collection is presented in the IKEA catalogue, featuring Myrten among other designs

1972 A new collection for the American market is launched by Jack Lenor Larsen’s company in New York

1973 The exhibition Glas & Beton at Sverigehuset in Stockholm features fabrics designed in collaboration with Vivianne Sjölin

1975 Designs the drop curtain Liv for the new hospital in Värnamo

1979–1980 Designs four drop curtains for schools and assembly halls in Saudi Arabia. The 24-metres-wide and 9-metres-high velvet drop curtains are handprinted by Ljungbergs

1981 Moves to Simrishamn

1983 Recipient of the award Excellent Swedish Design for his bed linen Planka/Ribb

1984 Receives an honourable mention at the Swedish Design Awards for his Satin Cross Collection

1985 Solo exhibition Målningar Collage Broderier (Paintings Collages Embroideries) at Gallery A E Boj, Stockholm

1986 Exhibition Grönländska kajaker och Svenska anoraker (Greenland Kayaks and Swedish Anoraks) with Pekka Niemelä at Gallery A E Boj, Stockholm
