The Battle of Lützen is considered one of the most destructive conflicts of the Thirty Years' War. It attracted a lot of attention in Europe at the time, and again later, in 19th-century Sweden, when it became charged with national romantic symbolism.
In 1967, approximately 3,600 tin figures were donated to Kulturen in Lund. They were later arranged to recreate the Battle of Lützen, fought in what is now Germany. The completed diorama captures a single moment from the battle on 6 November 1632.
After spending many years in Kulturen’s collections, the diorama is now on display once again as a temporary feature within the permanent exhibition Weapons – Power over Life. Join our guide, Ola Främby, to discover the story behind the creation of this remarkable diorama.
Included in the admission fee, no pre-booking required. The tour starts behind the White House (the museum’s main entrance building).
